Jim Landis:

I recently returned from a visit back to my hometown, Charlton NY. I also visited a neighboring town I lived in for several years- Saratoga Springs. Saratoga is known nationwide for its horse racing and mineral springs. I was able to get some photographs of its beautiful architecture. I would like to share some with the group. Hope you enjoy.

I have amassed an abundance of sea shells which I recently added to on a trip to Marco Island, Florida. I get a lot of pleasure finding and embellishing these gifts from nature. It takes me a couple of hours to design and paint each shell. The first three photos show the progression of a painted shell and the last three each show a grouping of finished shells. When completed, I scatter some on the beach for others to find and some I give away to friends and family. The ones I keep I often use as a summer table centerpiece. I hope I have inspired you to enhance your own sea shell collection.

Larry Owen

One of my wife’s brothers and his spouse were to celebrate 40 years of marriage by renewing their vows on the beach in Destin , Florida in April.  In  February, my wife said I should paint a beach sunset picture with a silhouette of a couple walking down the beach into the sunset.  So I did.

While on on the beach after the ceremony, the photographer for the event asked the

“re-newlywedded” couple to walk down the beach toward the setting sun.  The digital camera instantly revealed the image.  They loved it.   Later, our gift to them was opened and revealed a painting of their stroll down the beach.  They loved it too.

Just 2 1/2 years ago my card of the Japanese Mizumoto garden in Springfield became available at the gift shop at the Japanese Garden. Then, Covid. Who could have known?!

So glad to say it is back and your chance to support the Arts, The Springfield Botanical Center and an artist!
