Title: Randy
Medium: charcoal on paper; 20x24”
In this charcoal portrait my goal was to communicate the quiet and rough edged nature of Randy. Randy is above 6 foot tall, has about a 32” waist and doesn’t make much noise. He is a gentle man but is as unmovable as a stone wall in conviction. He is a hard worker and finds his pleasure out on the farm. I initially was going to subdue the clothing, concentrating the detail on the facial area- but there were so many interesting patterns and textures in the clothing area, I couldn’t resist bringing the area to a higher detail. The choice was the right one, I believe. The texture of the area matches seamlessly with the roughness of his face.

Program by Nicole Brown: "Sculpture Walk in Springfield"
Nicole’s talk will be about rotating sculpture programs, what the process was like getting the sculpture walk off the ground and what it does for the community.
Nicole Brown co-founded Sculpture Walk Springfield upon its creation in 2014. Working with community partners and the city of Springfield, Nicole has facilitated the design of the first rotating public art campaign in Springfield, coordinated educational opportunities for children, began the process of obtaining non-profit status and experienced significant growth in the past 8 years with over 40 sculptures in Downtown Springfield and beyond.
Nicole has served as a docent at the Springfield Art Museum, a committee member on the Springfield Regional Arts Council’s Visual Arts Committee, Better Block SGF and a Night for the Y committee member at the YMCA. She also provides technical assistance to local communities in Missouri introducing new public art programs.
With a 15-year background in not-for-profit, grant writing, marketing, public relations, and arts advocacy, Nicole brings her passion for bettering her community and working toward a museum without walls with access to all in Springfield. Nicole graduated from Missouri State University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and is now in the top 10% of Realtors in the Springfield Regional area.
Members and guests are invited to bring 1-2 piece of their art for "show and share." This is a fun time of sharing, socializing, and enjoying light refreshments.
