Call for Artists: Art in the Garden
We would love to have local artists display and sell their work during the Phelps Grove Neighborhood Art in the Garden tour. It will last from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 25. Maps to the tour will be sold in the parking lot of the Springfield Art Museum, and visitors can park there too. The map will show which gardens are open to visitors and which artists will be displaying work in each garden.
We need to know as soon as possible who will participate and what kind of work they will be displaying so we can match artists and gardeners and then create flyers advertising the event and get them distributed to businesses in the area.
Please give us their name, phone number and e-mail address so we can communicate with you. Call Vicky Trippe, 417-865-6333 if you are interested.
There is no cost, and all the money artists take in during the day is theirs.
The information and photos of past tours is up on the web site of Neighborhood News, and the story and photos are in the March newspaper.

Program by acrylic artist: Ann Marie Rausch:
"Not All Who Wander Are Lost"
Ann Marie said: "I create vividly colorful handpainted furniture. I am a planner. I plan out each piece from drawing them to scale, to what color will go where, which all shouts back to my architectural background. I chose wood furniture to be my “canvas” for its unique statement, functionality and for just the funess of it. My inspiration for creating a piece of art work could come from, a pattern, a color combination, a design or the piece of furniture itself. My favorite saying is 'If 10 colors will work, a 100 will work better'." Commissions welcome!
During her talk she will discuss how she chooses furniture as her canvas and her process for painting the furniture. She will display several of her hand painted creations. Ann Marie is a member of Fresh Gallery.

Members and guests are invited to bring 1-2 piece of their art for "show and share." This is a fun time of sharing, socializing, and enjoying light refreshments.

I am a self-taught artist who works primarily in salvaged materials that can be found in nature, such as leaves, leaf galls, driftwood, sticks, stones, bones, gourds, shells and sea glass. I love the challenge of altering and embellishing these gifts from our physical world. I also dabble in fiber arts with reused textiles, twine, wire, buttons and beads. My goal is to utilize recycled materials in all aspects of my creations, including making my own wrapping paper and cards.
