Learn how to use recycled material to make wooden reindeer ornaments

I have started working on this year’s reindeer for the special boys in my life. I have five boy grands and a grandnephew that I have given a handmade reindeer ornament every Christmas. My intention is that when they are grown and leave home they will have a collection of tree ornaments to take with them.

Nobody Loves Art More Than Artists

My reception at Fresh Art Gallery, showcasing my new media, was such a success! Nearly all of my sterling silver pendants sold out and I am back at work melting my mother’s old sterling silverware.

Nothing is more flattering than to witness one of my pendants on a beautiful artist I so admire. She captivates me with her love for drawing and printmaking, enough that I have an original of hers hanging prominently in my studio.

For me, the energy that draws me to a particular piece is strong and seems otherworldly.

My art touched a few hearts and found some new homes. Nothing validates an artist more and helps mitigate that imposter syndrome.

Thanks to everyone for attending the reception.

Ann White  (new member)
hootann1325@gmail.com

A little bit about me. I worked for Springfield Public Schools for 28 years as a high school social studies teacher, curriculum and instruction advisor, and worked with all 52 schools on upset parent calls.. I retired in 2019 and started taking drawing lessons with Tracy Bruton, and then attended Audrey Bottrell Parks classes at Splatter. I have explored watercolors with Alicia Farris and Paula Moore. My latest excursion has been in graphite and charcoal with Chelsie Murfee. Somehow, I missed taking art classes in middle or high school, and never had art in college. These teachers have opened a new door for creativity in my life and have enjoyed my new hobbies immensely. I look forward to learning more about the art community in the Springfield area by being a member of Studio 55 and meeting the other members.

Dawna Middleton

I also have my artwork at Formed Gallery on Walnut St - Springfield, MO
