Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild Program: "Textile Art"
Featuring Speaker Vivian Terbeek, Fiber Artist
Wednesday, May 9th at 1:00 p.m.
The Gallery at National Avenue Christian Church
1515 South National Avenue, Springfield
Vivian Terbeek will share the history of textile art and her process for generating ideas and creating a one of a kind piece of art. Some of her creations will be on display at the meeting and she will use a power point presentation to share her thought process and steps to complete her art work.
Vivian works with commercial and hand died cloth, thread, yarns and beads to express her emotions in vibrant color and organic forms. She uses various surface design techniques to create a moment in time or a visual message. No patterns are used and she works intuitively. As the thoughts come to her, she manipulates the fabric. This freedom of expression is a welcome change to her life after 30+ years in the Real Estate and Insurance world. Mostly a self taught artist in oils and textiles she is enjoying a new life of self expression.
Over the years, Vivian has won many awards for her art in both California and locally. One may purchase or see her art at Waverly House Gifts and Gallery 2031 S. Waverly. http://www.waverlyhouse.com
Visitors and members are invited to "show and share" their art following the program.
