"Painting Using the Renaissance Method"
Featuring: Greg Chappell,
Professional Artist and Instructor
The Gallery at National Ave. Christian Church
1515 South National Avenue, Springfield
Award winning artist, Greg Chappell has been a professional artist and instructor over forty-five years. As a young man growing up in a military family, he traveled most of the western world with the advantage of visiting many art museums in Europe studying works of da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael & Monet. He continued studying and became proficient in how pigments react to each other as well as drawing, anatomy, composition, color, and the effects of light. His method is indirect painting like the old masters, – layering different colors & building up pigments. He has won many awards as well as the LA Wildlife competition 2 years in a row and his art hangs in many collections across the United States and Europe.
Greg said: 'I will share several of my paintings, do a demo on layering, and describe the development of pigments in the renaissance era as applicable to painting with the renaissance method."
