Studio 55 Fine Arts Guild Presents
John Fitzgibbon, Artist and Teacher
September 12th, (Wednesday) 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m.
Artist Talk and demonstration
by Watercolor USA Exhibitor John Fitzgibbon.
Special workshop also available September 19-20
Both Events will be held in The Gallery at National Avenue Christian Church
1515 South National Avenue, Springfield,
John taught art for thirty years from the elementary to the college level. He loves teaching because he enjoys sharing what he has learned over the years. John works in oils, acrylics and watercolors. However watercolors are his favorite medium. According to John, “they have a spontaneous quality that is very hard to achieve in other mediums.” John has been accepted into Watercolor USA twice. First in 1999 for his painting entitled, “CHEERS’ (Judges Award) and next in 2018 for his painting entitled “SISTERS”.
John will show his painting "Sisters" and discuss the composition, how he decided on the seemingly unrelated collection of objects for this painting, and how and why he chose the title. John will demonstrate by painting "WINTER AT GRAND FALLS" (Joplin) on a full sheet of watercolor paper 22x30 inches. This will be the artwork we will paint at the 2-day workshop on September 19th and 20th.
John Fitzgibbon is a native of the Midwest. He was born in Kansas, raised in Oklahoma and now lives in Springfield, Missouri with his wife Debbie.
He maintains his studio in Springfield and stays very busy with commissions as well as teaching workshops. He has taught watercolor workshops both here and abroad. From this point on John plans to concentrate mainly on watercolors since, according to John,” They are just so fun to paint, I can’t seem to get enough of them.”
Visitors and members are invited to "show and share" their art at the meeting.

I have been asked to curate an art show once a month in a beautiful 3000sqft space in Nixa. The first show will take place in mid Oct. I am looking for artists interested in showing their work. The space is being equipped with a hanging system to accommodate all size art. I am looking for both 2D and 3D submissions. The first 2 shows in Oct. and Nov. will be open to all artists (space is limited and the show will need to be cohesive) after that...the shows will be juried and themed. Anyone interested or that have questions can email me at this address. This is a great opportunity to have work seen and sold in a new market. Please pass this on to other artists.
