Hatch taught sculpture and drawing in the Art and Design Department (MSU) from 1974 until 2015 when he retired. At this art talk and workshop he will share his knowledge of the history of “Silverpoint” drawing (that includes other kinds of metal besides silver, like platinum, gold, copper, bronze, lead, aluminum, zinc, and magnesium) done on coated medium. Many of the lovely drawings by da Vinci and Rembrandt were created using ‘metal points’ and they are still used today by artists for its fine, subtle qualities. During the workshop you will learn to draw/write with a metal point. No drawing experience is needed. Free and open to the public, but reservations are required.

Adam Schwartz, creator of Silver Foxx Studio, will share examples of his photography, tell a little about his background and discuss why using high quality professional grade images of your art will boost your chances of success in juried shows. He will also examine what to consider when photographing your own art or hiring someone to accomplish this for you. Adam said: "You only get one chance to make a first impression, so why ruin that chance during a juried art show or competition using a poor quality image?" Please check out his website by clicking on the following link: Silver Foxx Studio
