Nixa, MO based Christin Gilchrist has been honing her skills as a handbag designer and maker for the past several years. She began her interest in the arts very early in life. As a small child she loved to draw and paint. At age eight her mother taught her to sew an apron.
Later in life Christin found she needed a handbag and put her artistic talents and childhood learned skill to use. Through that experience she developed a passion for functional art and the engineering aspect of pattern drafting. Since that day she has been designing and constructing handbags for Two Belmont Sisters- a company she originally started in 2011 with her older sister as a hobby and later pursued as a full time business venture alone.
In 2017 demand picked up and Christin’s wife, April Williams, came to work at Two Belmont Sisters full time. With a background in screen printing and warehouse management April brought in a variety of much needed skill sets. Her passion for numbers and spreadsheets took Two Belmont Sisters from a one woman hustle to a legitimate business.
Today Two Belmont Sisters makes handbags, accessories, and unique soft goods always working in small batches while paying close attention to the tiniest details and ensuring each item is of the utmost quality. By sourcing local eco-friendly materials and utilizing as much scrap as possible they are minimizing their carbon footprint while working toward a zero waste company.
Two Belmont Sisters products can be found at fine art shows, online, at a handful of boutiques across the country and at nationally renowned Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
